Grass shall grow over out cities

"Der Alte St.-Matthäus-Kirchhof in Berlin-Schöneberg wird erneut zum Schauplatz einer ungewöhnlichen Kunstausstellung. In einem Gemeinschaftsprojekt international arbeitender und in Berlin lebender KünstlerInnen werden auf dem 1856 gegründeten denkmalgeschützten Kirchhof künstlerisch gestaltete Stationen des Erinnerns präsentiert. Im Spannungsfeld von historischer Kulisse, grünem Naturraum und Gräbern nehmen sich die temporären Installationen ihren eigenen Raum. Sie machen nicht nur die Schattenseiten des Erinnerns sichtbar, es wird auch von einer Leichtigkeit des Seins - selbst unter der Erde - erzählt. Denn neben der Last gibt es auch eine Lust des Erinnerns. Das zeigen sechs Wochen lang die Kuratorin Marion Fabian und die KünstlerInnengruppe mit über den Kirchhof verteilten Freiluft-Installationen, einer Raum-Licht- Installation im Mausoleum Gehring und wechselnde Raum-Klang-Installationen im Mausoleum Schwanck. Landart-Projekte greifen auf vorgefundenes Material zurück; in Erde, Steinen, Hölzern, Gras schreibt sich die Zeit als Faktor des Vergessens ein. So wird durch naturorientierte Kunst auf das kulturelle Gedächtnis der Erde verwiesen von Liz Crossley, aus Südafrika stammende Künstlerin. Hören wir ihr ausgesätes Gras nicht schon wachsen?" This project was created with the community in Kimberley, South Africa. The quote from Christa Wolf "The Past is not Dead!" is being painted onto a corner building at a busy cross-roads.
